Troubleshooting

Inflatable Doesn't Fully Inflate

If Your Inflatable Doesn't Fully Inflate, First, Please ensure the Short Deflation Tube is Tied Shut, and the blower is attached and running coninuously.

Inflatables are relatively simple in principle: Enclosed chambers that fill with air. Either air is escaping too much (large hole) or not enough air is entering.

The most common cause of an inflatable that has inflated in the past but no longer fully inflates is debris inside the blower - often leaves. With the blower off and disconnected look inside for debris If there is anything inside, it will commonly clog the nozzle screen when running, reducing airflow. To clear this jam, try running the blower by itself, and attempt to dislodge anything clogging the screen.

The blower should produce powerful airflow, and does not commonly weaken, but it is possible the blower fails.

Finally, inflatables left outside and/or wet for prolonged periods may delaminate from dry rot, and lose their ability to properly hold air. This is typically accompanied by visual discoloration and cannot be repaired.

My Inflatable Seems To Be Opening Up, Especially In The Corners.

All Inflatables will open up slightly, especially in the corners, and this may be more common with commercial inflatables.  Due the to numerous parts that meet in that area, it is sometimes impossible to join all the components together in the very corner, and most of the assembly is done on the inside of the inflatable.  As the inflatable "loosens up" over time, some areas, particularly corners, will appear to open up and separate.

The corner where a number of components meet is often not able to be sewn all the way into the corner itself, and relies on the seams inches away for support. You may even see threads, or occasionally, what appear to be "open threads," however there are a series of stitches inside the inflatable that do the heavy lifting.  These openings typically separate to between the size of a dime and a quarter, and are not cause for concern.  Occasionally one side of the inflatable may have a corner appear to open up, while others don't.  This is also not cause for concern.

How is a claim determined on an opening?

Typically if the opening is smaller than a silver dollar, the inflatable will still safely function.  If it is larger than this, you may send it in for inspection/repair.  We will issue a call tag, test the item for pressure using a manometer, and determine if it is defective, or still ahs enough pressure to funtion within the engineering range.  If it is determined to be defective due to manufacturing or materials, we will then repair the item and send it back to you at no charge to you.  However, if it is not determined to be defective, or determined to be due to user issues, we will collect transportation costs both inbound and outbound, to return the item to you.

What Do I Do If My Blower Stops Working?

Your blower is fitted with a mechanism to prevent overheating, so in cases where the motor gets too hot, the blower will typically shut down for approximately 2 hours before restarting. Motors fitted with a gfci at the plug may also require a "reset" on the plug.

The most common cause of an inflatable that has inflated in the past but no longer fully inflates is debris inside the blower - often leaves. With the blower off and disconnected look inside for debris If there is anything inside, it will commonly clog the nozzle screen when running, reducing airflow. How Can I Get Rid Of Mildew?

The first step in dealing with Mildew is prevention.  Always store inflatables 100% dry.  Mildew corrodes the materials used in inflatables.  Unfortunately, so do most cleaners used to "remove" mildew.  If mildew does arise, completely dry the inflatable, and allow the mildewed area exposure to sunlight.  You may also use soap and water to clean the area, although if mildew damage is severe, scrubbing will cause the materials to disintegrate. A 10% bleach solution may be used if rinsed throughly within a minute.

How Do I Repair My Inflatable?

Repairing an inflatable depends on the nature of the problem. You can use the included patch kit to repair minor punctures, holes, or tears. In general, using stitching to repair a product is more durable than using an adhesive.

Punctures, holes, or tears can typically be repaired using a needle and strong thread or fishing line. While material is puncture resistant, it is not puncture proof. Using thread can keep the tear from running. The repair may be made by simply sewing up the tear itself, or sewing the patch to the inflatable. Alternately, the patch may be adhered using all-purpose glue, which can be purchased at your local hardware store. If you need a patch kit, please contact us.

Hissing/Whistling/Bubbles

Your Blast Zone Inflatable operates by pumping air constantly in, and through the inflatable. The air then escapes through the seams, or back out through the blower during jumping. It is perfectly normal to hear hissing, whistling, "air leaking," and to see bubble at seams in water parks. This is all part of the normal operation. Some areas of the inflatable may be louder than others. This process is also referenced in the manual, on the label and sometimes printed on the product.

Why Do My Dimensions Differ From Listed Dimensions?

While Blast Zone Inflatables are mass-produced, using identical patterns, the process of inflation causes expansion. Dimensions will vary based on pressure and users. Commercial inflatables will commonly expand beyond listed dimensions when inflated. Always provide at least 3' of clearance on all sides of your inflatable.

My Inflatable Is Fading

All Inflatables will fade to some extent, due to UV exposure. Even if you notice UV bleaching, your inflatable is fine and will still function properly.

However, as mentioned in the Care Guide, prolonged sun exposure from being left outside will fade any material, inflatables included. If the inflatable is stored outside folded or rolled, the pattern of Sun Bleaching will become more apparent, due to the contrast of creating a zebra-pattern, due to only portions being exposed.

Outside of exposure to chemicals such as household Bleach, prolonged UV exposure is the only source of discoloration, other than mineral residue from some water sources.

To avoid further bleaching, please store the inflatable indoors, out of direct sun, as per the care guidelines, and any pattern may even out over time as the inflatable is used.

Care

How do I dry my Water Park?

Blast Zone water parks have undergone a number of upgrades over the years to greatly limit the amount of water inside the bladder.  However, under extended use, small amounts of water may enter the bladder.  To dry the water park, evacuate all players, deflate the water park, and release all the standing water in the play area.  You may also remove the majority of standing water simply by stepping on the inflated wall with your bare foot to allow water to run out.

After the removal of any standing water, inflate the product again, and allow the blower to run until the inside is dry.

How Long Do These Last?

There is really no way to answer this question, because the answer depends entirely on the type of use, frequency of use, and care of the products. Home use Inflatables are covered by a 1-year warranty, and "2-Year Promise," while commercial-grade products are covered by a 2-year warranty and "5-year promise."

With proper care, Blast Zone Inflatables normally greatly outlast the coverage periods. However, proper care is imperative, especially with water parks, where mildew and other issues can destroy these quickly if not properly cared for.

Commercial inflatables will obviously not last as long in indoor use facilities as rentals or school equipment, because they are used all day, every day. Many manufacturers will stipulate a shorter warranty period for these types of applications, while Blast Zone does not. Commercial-grade retailers making claims of "our inflatables last x years" are simply making false claims, if the claimed period is longer than the warranty coverage period.

Blast Zone provides a level of coverage for up to 5 years, which is the important and ethical approach.Blast Zone Inflatables meet or exceed industry standards for safety, durability, warranty and support. We take great pride in the quality and durability of Blast Zone inflatables, and believe we offer the Industry's best quality, design and support.

Should I Store The Bounce House After Every Use If It Is Only Used Indoors?

If you will be keeping your inflatable indoors, you do not need to worry about storing it after each use. As long as it is being kept inside, away from moisture and direct sunlight you will be fine just letting it deflate at the end of the day.

Setup and Use

Can adults get in it?

As long as you are under 200 Lbs for Commercial Inflatables (some units support 250), jump away.  For residential inflatables, adults under 100 Lbs may play. Please note, we increased our specifications across the board to accommodate higher user weights. However, some product literature may still reflect the previous specs, while the lineup is updated.

Can These Products Be Used Indoors?

As Long As Proper Clearance Is Provided, And Proper Anchoring Is Used, Blast Zone Commercial Inflatables May Be Used Indoors. Our Products Produce No Emissions.

Can I Use A Generator With Blast Zone Inflatables?

Yes. You will need to purchase an appropriately powered generator in order to run your inflatable. However, many companies use generators for events where power is not readily available. Your blower will list the specifications on the motor housing, and most of our blowers are 8A, 60Hz, 120V. For details specific to your product or intended purchase, please contact us.

Do I Have To Anchor My Inflatable?

Yes. Your Inflatable Must Be Anchored At All Times, Without Exception.

Does The Blower Have To Be On The Whole Time?

Yes. Our Inflatables Are "Constant Air," And The Running Blower Provides The Structural Integrity And Bounce. This Category Of Products Are Not Designed To Be Air Tight, Instead Requiring Air To Escape To Function Properly.

How Loud Are Blast Zone Blowers?

The sound of the blower is similar to a vacuum cleaner. The decibel reading for our various blowers (tested at the outlet nozzle of the blower) is a range of 67-83 decibels. The average reading for our various blowers is 73dB. This average reading is lower than that of popular vacuum cleaners, which come in at a range of 75-90 dB. Typically users are not this close to the blower, so the actual decibels registered by players would be lower, or substantially lower than these results.

What Is Your Wind Rating?

While some safety protocols require engineering to 25 MPH, We do not recommend using any inflatables in winds over 15 MPH, for user safety.   The best way to measure wind is with a scientific device, however, below is the US national weather services rule-of-thumb guide to wind speeds.

In 1806 Sir Francis Beaufort developed a rating system for accurate recording of wind speed. This system was developed for sailors, but has since been modified for use on land. Compiled by the US National Weather Service

Can I Use My Inflatable On Concrete?

Please do not use any inflatable on concrete or hard surfaces. This is a safety risk first and foremost, but the concrete can also damage an inflatable. We advise the use of common-sense safety practices at all times.

Why do my setup instructions tell me not to set the item up on carpet?

Some carpeted surfaces can be very hard, such as industrial carpeting without padding, but most homes use a standard type of carpeting that is much softer. The main point of the precaution is to advise against using on hard surfaces. We advise the use of common-sense safety practices at all times. Another point to the safety precaution is that products cannot be properly anchored with the stakes, but provided you use sand bags for weighted anchoring, this is irrelevant, as the sand bags are designed to make the product indoor-compatible.

Can I Use An Extension Cord With My Blast Zone Inflatable?

People do use extension cords, and there are appropriate contractor-grade extension cords for inflatables. However, our blowers are UL-Certified and specifically engineered for the inflatables they accompany. Therefore, we are technically unable to specifically recommend the use of any extension cords with our inflatables. Light duty extension cords will also result in power loss/reduction, which can affect the performance of the inflatable. For these reasons, we offer 75' built-in cord options for most Blast Zone Inflatables.

Safety

Is Your Material Non-Toxic?

Yes, Our Materials Comply With CPSC Guidelines Relating To Toxins, Lead And Phthalates. We Also Regularly Test And Log Raw Materials Per Cpsc Guidelines.

What makes Blast Zone products safe?

All Blast Zone Inflatables are designed with safety in mind. Each inflatable uses high tensile commercial safety netting in designated fall points. Each Inflatable provides more anchor points than the engineering requires, in order to ensure proper anchoring. Some of our slides, for example, provide twice the industry standard anchor points.

Materials used in production are durable, non toxic, and comply with ASTM and CPSC guidelines.

Do Any Of Your Products Have Swimming Pools At The Base Of The Slide?

While inflatable pools are a fantastic idea, and are fun in theory, there are some inherent issues with safety and liability for both the manufacturer and operator. First, various governing bodies have extraordinarily stringent guidelines for pools, and "pool slides." The testing and guidelines are virtually impossible to adhere to with inflatable products. Because we produce so many inflatables, it's critical for us to follow guidelines carefully. Second, the landing zones of our slides require proper impact attenuation. We achieve this by using inflated bases, but if we were to fill these areas with water, the bases would collapse under the waters weight, causing a potential drowning hazard as well as an improper landing zone, as well as adding hundreds of lbs of "user weight" to the inflated body, putting added stress on the fans. Additionally, the water can collapse the outside pool walls, allowing water to drain, and the potential for a rider to slide off. This would be even more dangerous should a rider improperly slide head first directly in to the ground in a situation where the landing zone was collapsed from water weight. Even without a "contained pool," these slides require very little flow to operate, and water settles into the grooves of the landing zone for a fun splash. This is safer, and better for the environment, using far less water. It also causes less headaches for the operator, as a full pool leads to a number of draining challenges (and sinkholes in renters yard). Keep in mind, while shopping for water products, even if the unit includes a contained pool, continuous water flow is required to the slide to properly lubricate, so water will flow into the use area outside of the inflatable regardless. While Blast Zone does not manufacture slides that discharge the user directly into a contained, inflated pool, for the users safety, keep an eye out for items that include splash areas as auxiliary features, where the user can splash and cool off, without dropping directly in from the slide.

Can I rent out Residential Grade Inflatables?

We do not recommend using Blast Zone Home use inflatables for rental purposes. However, we have an extensive line of affordable commercial inflatables designed for rental purposes.

Do I Have To Anchor My Inflatable?
